His family has requested that the PGR attend his services. The mission is a ‘go’ and all contacts have been made.
Mr. Harden joined the Army in November 1944, and served in the Philippine Islands in Troop B, 5th Horse Cavalry. While training for the invasion of Japan, they learned of the atomic bombs being dropped and the Japanese surrender. He became part of the occupation force entering Japan in 1945. Mr. Harden was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, The Army Occupation Medal (Japan), and the Victory Medal.
After 41 years of service as an Operator with Exxon-Mobil, he retired to what he loved best, farming. “Mr. Phil” was a beloved father, grandfather, great- and great-great grandfather, and a kind and very wise friend for many years to the members of Trinity Valley Community Church in Palestine.
Services: 2:00 pm Sunday, May 1st at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home and Chapel, 207 South Magnolia Street, Palestine, Texas 75801.
Directions to Roselawn Park Cemetery in Palestine will be given by the Ride Captain.
