Brothers and Sisters of the Patriot Guard Riders, it is with a heavy heart and a tear-filled eyes that I inform you that we have lost one of our own, Paul “Hawkeye” Piescik. Paul’s family has requested our presence during a memorial service in Fredericksburg. I ask you to join me, and show Honor and Respect to this Patriot, as he has honored our protectors.
Paul died while in the hospital surrounded by family and friends. He served as a fireman and a Connecticut and Virginia Patriot Guard Rider. Paul’s first mission was in Hartford, CT on November 5, 2011, a HOTH mission for a Medical Company send-off. His first Virginia mission was in Elkton, VA on February 21, 2012, an Honor mission. Paul’s last mission was August 25, 2016 standing the flag line. He would appear after getting up at o-dark thirty, riding for three hours in 30 degree weather, rain or shine to stand a flag line. He respected and honored the service and sacrifice of the men and women who protect our country.
Paul stood many flag lines during both Honor and HOTH missions. He rode many miles, touched many lives, and shared with many families in their darkest moments. We are organized, Patriots, as our mission tell us, for the purpose, among other things, “Standing for those that stood for US.” What can aid more to assure this result than by cherishing the memory of our patriotic brother, who volunteered his time and resources to stand the flag line? We will stand the flag line with sacred vigilance. We won’t allow any interruptions occur during Paul’s memorial service. We will form a flag line to invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. We will remember Hawkeye.
