EOM – 22 Aug 19 US Army/Law Enforcement Officer (ret) Paul John Stoner Lawton, OK

On a hot and humid morning in Lawton, OK, six patriots on five motorcycles/trikes, and one support vehicle gathered at the Holy Family Catholic Church to honor the service of Law Enforcement Officer (ret) Paul John Stoner.

Twenty One American Flags along with the Army and Law Enforcement service flags were staked along a very busy 82nd street between the north entrance and south exit. A group of local veterans stopped and asked if they could stand the flag line with us and we were happy to have them.

We held our briefing and first mission pins were handed out to the veterans who stood the flag line with us, the CMA was recognized for their attendance, and the invocation was read to all present.

We walked over to the church for door detail as guests and family arrived. After the service began the group of veterans and I met on the flag line on 82nd, and told them our route of travel coming out of the church and thanked them for their service and support of this mission.

The service was surprisingly short (about 30 mins), and our hero was moved to the PGR Coach. We mounted up and pulled behind the four Lawton Police Units that would lead us all the way to and into Fort Sill National Cemetery. Along I-44 an Oklahoma Highway Patrol unit and units from the Comanche County Sheriff ‘s Office joined in the now large group of LEO’s escorting us.

After a brief stop at the visitors building The LEO’s escorted us to the Committal Shelter where the flags had been pre-staked. The pallbearers consisted of three Lawton Police officers and three PGR members who were asked to assist. Three Lawton Police Officers on one side of our hero and three PGR members on the other side – what an honor.

After a brief service, military honors were rendered – TAPS played, the flag folded and presented to Mr. Stoners daughter. The PGR Plaque and Invocation were presented and the service concluded.

I would like to thank the riders for coming out on such a hot day today, the family for allowing us this honor, those veterans (and a civilian) who stopped and stood the flag line as the procession passed by. But mostly I want to thank Paul John Stoner US Army and Lawton Police Office. He truly served our country and our community. Stand down and rest, your mission here is complete – end of watch 15 Aug 2019.

Respectfully
Billy (5 Dollar) Hope
