Dedication
Oviedo Florida Post Office
Oviedo, Florida – 05-11-19

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a flag line for the dedication of the Post Office in Oviedo Florida in the name of Army SFC Alwyn C. Cashe.
SFC Cashe was wounded in action while in Samarra, Iraq. and later died at Brook Army Medical Center in Texas. SFC Cashe was commanding a Bradley fighting vehicle that imploded after being struck by an IED, fusing the escape hatch shut. SFC Cashe was in the gunners hatch, therefore he was thrown clear unharmed. Nevertheless, he returned to the vehicle several times, becoming soaked in fuel, to save his men. In doing so, he was burned over 90% of his body with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Although he fought, he succumbed to his wounds. He is credited with removing 8 others, three of which preceded him in death at BAMC.
SFC Cashe was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star. There is active movement to have his Silver Star upgraded to the Medal of Honor, an action which Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy has joined. SFC Cashe’s funeral was held in 2005, where the Patriot Guard Riders were present.
Please bring your 3 X 5 American Flags to stand in honor of SFC Alwyn C. Cashe for this Dedication ceremony.
