ABOUT THE MISSION:

MSG Nicholas (Nick) Q. Sheperty, 36, USANG (AD) from Baltimore City, MD, died 17 April 2019 in Suffolk, VA, after suffering fatal injuries while involved in an airborne operations training exercise. MSG Sheperty was a West Virginia Army National Guard soldier, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), out of Kingwood, WVA. He was a respected member of the Green Berets and served as a Senior Weapons Sergeant. Prior to his service with the WVNG, he served with the USMC Special Operations Command and served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among his many awards and commendations are the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon and NATO Medal. MSG Nick Sheperty will be interred on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery on 18 June 2019 at approximately 0900 hours from the Memorial Gate.
