US Marine Corps
Naples, FL – 15 JUL 16
The family of MSgt(R) H. W. “Tim” Timrud, US Marine Corps, WWII/Korean/Vietnam Veteran, requests the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to Honor their Hero on Friday, 15 JUL 16.
MSgt(R) Timrud joined the Marine Corps directly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor when he turned 17. Tim had a very extensive military career, he was a machine gunner serving in the Pacific Theater and not only did he witness the flag-raising at Iwo Jima, he survived it. He also received 2 Purple Hearts in 2 wars for wounds received in action along with numerous other awards and decorations during his service to our country. He retired from the USMC in 1966 after 25 years of service and then joined the State Department’s foreign service. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League.

We all came to know and love Tim as he was on the very first Collier County Honor Flight in 2013. Afterwards he attended the Honor Flight Welcome Home at RSW with us along with the last one for the all Lady Hero Honor Flight in Naples last month. Fittingly, this American Hero passed away on July 4th.
He will be interred in ANC at a later date.
