Patriot Guard Riders

The PGR has been requested by the family of a WWII War Hero to attend his funeral service and honor him, we will be honored to do so.

Morton R. Schecter enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on October 22, 1942 at the age of 18. He became a tail gunner on board bombers and flew 38 missions over Europe, 35 of which he dropped bombs on Berlin and other locations. He served with distinction, having been awarded the Legion of Honor, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 3 Bronze Stars and 5 Palm Leaf Clusters. He was honorably discharged on September 29, 1945 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Mr. Schecter went back to civilian life and worked as a salesman in the toy industry for 45 years. He also loved baseball and played semi pro when he got out of the military, and he enjoyed horse racing as a spectator.

He was always a lifelong Patriot and was a member of the American Legion, post 43 in Hollywood, the Jewish War Veterans, and was part of Los Angeles National Cemetery Support Foundation for almost 30 years. He also never forgot his Veteran brothers and volunteered at the VA Hospital having served over 6000 hours, and volunteered helping homeless Vets.

Mr. Schecter is survived by his son, and two daughters, 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 5 siblings.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
