ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family and friends of LCDR Michael Anthony Amig have graciously requested the Patriot Guard Riders’ presence to escort them and their loved one from Jacksonville Beach to Jacksonville National Cemetery, and then silently stand a flag line as they show their final respects to him.
LCDR Michael Anthony Amig served his country for 23 years, enlisting in the US Navy in 1981 and retiring in 2004. LCDR Amig served at many commands, among them on the USS O’Bannon (DD 987), NAVSPACECOM DET APLHA, and COMCARGRU SIX. When he attained the rank of Operations Specialist Chief Petty Officer (OSC), he put in for and was selected to the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program. He attained and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). His personal awards include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Joint Achievement Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), Good Conduct Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2), United Nations Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Coast Guard Unit Commendation (Operational Distinguishing Device), Battle Efficiency Award (8), Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon, and the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (6).

May family and friends find strength in acknowledgement that Michael Amig having served this nation honorably, was willing to sacrifice all that another might taste or maintain liberty and stood courageously where few dared tread and for such dedication to nation, duty, and service rendered, is so remembered and honored among patriots. Please accept my sincere condolences.
