ABOUT THE MISSION:
Merrell “Tony” A. Smith enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1965 and served until 1971. He then later enlisted in the United States Army. In 1988 he was appointed as a SIGINT Warrant Officer. During his twenty eight year career he worked with all four branches of the military to include the Coast Guard and he also worked with the CIA, DIA, National Reconnaissance Office, Drug Enforcement Agency and The National Security Agency. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal (5th Award); the Army Achievement Medal; the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Army Superior Unit Award; the Air Force Organization Excellence Award; the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award); the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal; the National Defense Service Medal (2d Award); the Armed Forces Service Medal; the Non Commissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon; the Army Service Ribbon; the Army Lapel Button; the NATO Medal; the Overseas Service Ribbon (5th Award) and the Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon.
