ABOUT THE MISSION:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders,
We have been invited to stand for Merle Andrew Smith, age 20.
Merle served in the U.S. Navy from 7 December 1939 to 7 December 1941 on the USS Oklahoma. Merle was serving on the USS Oklahoma when she was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Thank you all for your service to our family. We felt honored that you would come out on two very hot days to remember Merle. We are wondering about the gentleman who fell right after the service. Please let us know how he is doing. We so much appreciated all of you! Thank you.

I want to sincerely thank the Patriot Guard riders for their service during this repatriation of Navy Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class, Merle A. Smith. The Honor and respect this organization provides to our fallen and their loved ones is truly awe inspiring. I salute each and everyone of you!
