During his four to five year enlistment, he was the recipient of at least 2 Purple Hearts, the first one as a Private in South Korea 9/3/1950, the second one as a Corporal in North Korea Sector on 6/8/1951.

Mission Summary: We have been invited by the family of Merlan Perrin to join them in honoring the memory of their loved one. We will do this by standing a flag line at the funeral service, participate in the escorted procession, then stand the flag line once again at his interment service following the funeral.

PART 1: Funeral Service and Procession

Details Of Part 1: After helping the support person set up the flags and the mission brief has been given, we will stand the flag line to receive the family and friends of Merlan Perrin. Once the service begins, we will retrieve the flags, furl and stow them in the support vehicle. Riders not participating in the procession will be dismissed to proceed on for the interment portion of this mission at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. The safety brief will be given by the Ride Captain prior to the departure of the procession to those riders participating in the procession. Dallas Fort Worth Escort will be providing the escort duties for us.

PART 2: Interment Service

Details Of Part 2: We will stage at the Visitor’s Center at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. After the mission brief has been given, the honor bikes will be assigned (if needed, depending on participation in procession). The rest of the riders will proceed to Shelter B to place flags and prepare for the arrival of Mr. Perrin, family, and friends. At the conclusion of the committal service, the flags will be retrieved, furled, and stowed in the shelter storage area. After the post mission brief, all riders will be dismissed.
