SUMMARY:Memorial - SSgt James R. Moore
DESCRIPTION:Ladies and Gentlemen \nWe have been invited to a re-dedication of Naples Memorial Town Park in Naples NY in Honor of SSgt James R. Moore\, a young man from Naples who went MIA during the Vietnam War. \nStaff Sergeant James Rodney Moore\, Alpha Company\, 9th Engineer Battalion\, was attached to the 7th Engineer Battalion at Da Nang. The 7th Engineer’s Command Chronology notes that at 0800\, 01 March 1967 a Marine from Alpha/9 was reported missing in action about 7 kilometers south of the Da Nang complex. No further information is provided. Corporal James R. Moore was carried as Missing in Action\, and twice promoted in that status\, until the Secretary of the Navy approved a Presumptive Finding of Death on 13 March 1978. \nStaff Sergeant James Rodney Moore was a basic combat engineer. He disappeared while on patrol and is presumed to have been pulled down into a tunnel network by the enemy. A subsequent search of the area showed no signs of James. James has not been returned nor has his body ever been recovered. He is unmarried and was 19 years old on the date he disappeared. \nWhen/Where:\nMonday\, May 30\, 2016 \nWe will stage at 09:00\nWilcox Lumber\n212 S Main St.\nNaples\, NY 14512 \nLRC:\nNigel Heaton\nnigelvh@aol.com \nThe re dedication of the park includes a parade of approximately 3/4 mile down the Main St of Naples. You are invited to ride directly behind the Veterans who are first in line or to stand a flag line along the route. You would also be able to walk in the parade. The organizers are open to what we prefer. If you would like to walk vs riding your clutch. I have a banner that would take 3 to hold. It’s not that its heavy it just needs someone to support the center. Please contact me with your desire to walk and I’ll make arrangements to have the banner there. The parade and dedication is not expected to take a lot of time.
