Ladies and Gentlemen of the PGR,
Our presence has been requested by the family to show Honor and Respect to Rollin “Hump” Gray.
He spent almost 20 years in the Navy where he was surrounded by his true love, Naval airplanes. He served in Vietnam and Desert Storm and was awarded the following; 2 National Defense Medals, Vietnam Service Medal with Star Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Navy Expedition Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals, 2 Meritorious Unit Commendations, Humanitarian Service Medal, 2 Overseas Service Ribbons, 6 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Stars along with several other awards.
When he retired from the service, he became quite active with The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, where he was able to ride his motorcycle as he continued to pursue his passion of helping his comrades. He worked hard in support of Vets and disabled Vets and was very much the man you could depend on to help when you had a Vet with an issue.
Unfortunately, due to medical issues from Agent Orange, Hump was unable to eventually pursue his dream of being a pilot, but that didn’t keep him from doing what he wanted. He ultimately became a Flight Instructor.
His other passion besides Naval airplanes and motorcycles was music. He was an avid banjo player and played bluegrass in a band called ‘Round the Bend’.
