Memorial Dedication For  Victims of 1972 Military Aircraft Crash

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the Horry County Historic Preservation Commission to escort the family and friends of the Victims of  1972 Military Aircraft Crash for a Memorial Dedication. These service members perished on December 5th, 1972 in a night combat profile mission referred to as a CORONET SIERRA mission, designed to test the various options and capabilities of the aircraft. It will be our honor to do so. We will escort them to Berea Baptist Church where the ceremony will take place.  A memorial headstone and historical roadside marker will be placed on Joyner Swamp Road in Galivants Ferry, SC in honor of these servicemembers.  There will be three guest speakers; Councilman Al Allen, Greg Taylor along with his father Ronald Tyler (witness) and Colonel Joseph Vanoni.  Colonel Vanoni, Commanding Officer of Air force Operations at Pope Army Air Field, will read the 13 names of the fallen at the conclusion of his remarks.

Brief: 1:15 PM
Please ensure you are at the staging area on time so we can establish our escort line. After the briefing we will stand by for LEO escort to Berea Baptist Church. After arriving at the church we will establish a flag line and hold it until the ceremony is over. For those who do not want to be part of the escort please meet us at Berea Baptist Church at 4287 Joyner Swamp Road, Galivants Ferry SC 29527 This is a Rain or Shine Mission.

Water will be provided.
