An Evening of Remembrance
COLUMBIA, SC
11 SEP 16
An evening of remembrance. We remember them. We always will. The families of 53 Heroes, both first responders and military, whose names are on the monument, were comforted during their grieving by the rumble of the Patriot Guard Riders throughout the Midlands over the last several years. Now 3 more names of fallen first responders will be added. The families will be there again; this time to see their heroes remembered by the community on this special day, this day of Patriots. They will hear the rumble again and be comforted once more that the PGR is there with them, because we remember them.
We will meet at the Richland County American Legion Post 6 for the briefing and to get our big flags flying, then we will take a back way into the convention center to avoid traffic. They will hear the rumble in downtown Columbia as we pull into the convention center to a special parking area. We will establish a flag line at the First Responder’s Remembrance Memorial to honor the fallen heroes and comfort and assist the families as needed. The families will arrive at 1630 (4:30 pm), the ceremony begins at 1700 (5:00 pm) and will last approximately 45 minutes. Please stay for the entire ceremony so that we do not start motorcycles during the ceremony.
