Melvin Johnson Sr. was born in Oklahoma on 14 January 1933. At the age of 19 years, Melvin joined the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1956 in the Korean War.
PFC Johnson Sr. came home and married the love of his life, Elizabeth and they had seven children, 2 sons and 5 daughters.
Nearly half a century ago, the family of PFC Johnson Sr. moved his family to Tucson, Arizona so work in the mines.
PFC Johnson Sr. family said he loved to fish and would go fishing 2 to 3 times a week, he loved playing dominoes and was very good at it and passed on that love to his son, Melvin Jr. He also loved to joke with people, he always wanted people to smile and was a devote Christian.
PFC Johnson Sr. passed on 26 August 2016, leaving a legacy behind of his wife of over 60 years and many family and friends.
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a flag line and it will be an honor to do so.
