The family of Mr. Melvin Douglas Chastain has asked that we stand a silent flag line to honor the life and service of their hero. It will be an honor and privilege to do so. Mr Chastain served his country when it was not a popular thing to do. He served aboard the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43). He had previous service and was recalled to active duty in 1969. His rating was AMS 7210 which is an Aircraft Structural Mechanic. He rose to the rank of PO 3 (E 3).
