    1. Post mission report Melvin Douglas Chastain USN.
On a hot sunny afternoon seven patriots gathered at the Georgia National Cemetery to honor the life and service of Mr. Melvin D Chastain better known to friends as Doug. Doug served aboard the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43) during the Vietnam War. He was an aircraft frame mechanic. After his military service he a carpenter flooring installer.
We stood a Silent flag line while Military Honors were rendered by the U S Navy Honors team. I presented a condolence card signed by all present; a Certificate of Honor from the American Legion and an Angel coin to his Son John who had received the folded flag.
I would like to thank everyone that was able to come out to honor this Hero today. Special thanks to Clete Simpson for escorting the family to the shelter and to Reuben Baumgardner for bringing the much needed hydration. Mr Chastain’s family was very moved by our presence. I am very proud to stand with all of you.
