Mission Complete: 8 Jun 2019- Capt. Melvin C. Hicks, USA Korean War Veteran, Edmond, Ok.
On Saturday, 8 Jun 2019 there were 5 Patriot Guard Riders on 2 bikes and 2 cages who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of US Army Korean War Veteran Capt. Melvin C. Hicks at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond, Ok.
The area surrounding the grave site was staked and the American Flag and Army Flag flew proudly in the light breeze as family and friends arrived.
The briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver and Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. A prayer asking comfort for the grieving family, a safe mission and protection for our military personnel engaged in the Global War on Terror was also said.
The PGR members then stood a Flag Line and greeted family and friends as they arrived for the grave side service.
At the conclusion of the ministers sermon, the PGR members stepped forward to make the presentations. The PGR Plaque was read and 5 PGR Plaques were presented to the Hero’s children. The PGR Invocation was also read and presented it, along with copies, and printed condolences to the Hero’s children. The RCIC then thanked the family for inviting us to come and Honor the Military Service of their loved one.
The PGR members then stood by as the US Army Honor Guard played Taps and folded the flag, and presented it to the Hero’s son. Upon completion of the service, PGR members returned the flags to the flag vehicle.
Thank You to all of my fellow Patriot Guard Riders for attending this mission. Your presence made a difference to this family.
Most of all, Thank You Capt. Melvin C. Hicks for your service to this great nation. Rest In Peace Sir, your mission is complete and you will not be forgotten.
Respectfully
Bruce “Sixgun”Mccormick
