Mission Complete: 16 Sept 2019- SSG Mearl Leon Malone, ARNG (Ret) Veteran, Rush Springs, Ok.

On 16 Sept 2019, there were 16 Patriot Guard Riders on 14 bikes who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of ARNG (Ret) Veteran SSG Mearl Leon Malone at the First Assembly of God Church in Rush Springs, Ok.

The area surrounding the Church was staked and the American Flag flew proudly in light breeze as family and friends arrived for the service.

The briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver and Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. A prayer asking comfort for the grieving family, a safe mission and protection for our military personnel engaged in the Global War on Terror was also said.

The PGR stood a Flag Line with the American Flag and the Army Flag held by the entrance door, and manned the doors as family and friends arrived for the service. When the service started, PGR members returned the flags to the flag vehicle.

At the conclusion of the service, PGR members stood a Respect Line as the Hero was moved from the church to the Coach. With the able assistance of the Rush Springs Police Dept. and First Responders, the PGR then accompanied the Hero, family and friends to the Rush Springs Cemetery and stood another Flag Line as the Hero was moved from the Coach to the grave site by pall bearers from the Army Honor Guard.

The Army Honor Guard rendered a three round volley and Taps was played. The Army Honor Guard folded the Flag and presented it to the Hero’s son, then stood by while the PGR presentations were made. The PGR Plaque was read and presented it along with 2 others to the Hero’s son and 2 daughters. The RCIC then read the PGR Invocation and presented it, along with 2 others to the Hero’s son and daughters, along with copies, and printed condolences, then thanked the family for inviting us to come and Honor the Military Service of their loved one before a final salute was rendered by members.

Thank You to all my fellow Patriot Guard Riders for attending this mission. Your presence made a difference to this family. A special Thank you to the Rush Springs Police Dept. and First Responders for their assistance.

Most of all, Thank You SSG Mearl Leon Malone for your service to this great nation. Rest In Peace Soldier, your mission is complete and you will not be forgotten.

Respectfully
SRC Bruce (Sixgun) McCormick
