ABOUT THE MISSION:
The Patriot Guard Riders have the honor of standing for SP4 Maxwell Taylor Courson as he once stood for us. Dr. Courson was a US Army veteran and a Public Information Specialist at Ft’ Benning, GA, and the 2nd Inf. Division in Korea, he joined the army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Max studied journalism at UGA and received his doctorate degree at the University of Hawaii. Max was also a professor of journalism and communication and taught Japanese students in summer orientation programs.

Special Instructions:
We will stage at the funeral home and join the funeral procession with a rolling honor guard to the city cemetery which is approximately one mile. The family has requested riders to fly a raccoon tail on their bikes in honor of SP4 Courson if possible, he had coon tail attached to the rear of his bike.
Coronavirus precaution disclosure: Please bring a mask and wash hands often, be prepared to follow the guidelines from state and local officials as well as facility or cemetery guidelines to be outlined at the mission briefing.
A general record of attendees will be held by the ride captain for a period not to exceed 2 weeks in the case of the need for contact tracing. If you test positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of attending a mission please contact Ride Captain with that information, your name will NOT be disclosed.
Those who are sick, have a household member or other close contact who is sick should not attend and those who have a higher risk of severe illness should weigh the benefits of in-person attendance against the risk of exposure to a person with COVID-19, especially if recommendations for wearing masks and social distancing may be difficult to follow for themselves or others.
