After Mission Report – 17 May 2019 – CPL Max Lee Martin, USA Vietnam Veteran. Tahlequah/FGNC, Oklahoma
On a beautiful Oklahoma spring day, six Patriots, formed at Green Country Funeral Home to accompany CPL Max Lee Martin, USA Vietnam Veteran, to Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Included was our hero’s son-in-law who rode up from Houston, Texas to join in his first PGR mission. His wife brought a cooler full of cold waters to our staging area in their deep appreciation for our being there.
As all services were to be held at Fort Gibson, we briefed on the mission, gave a moment of silence to our Gold, Silver and Blue Star families, and concluded with one of our members giving a prayer to keep all of those attending safe and help them through their time of need. We then were assisted by Tahlequah Police Department to give us safe escort through town and on to Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
Arriving at FGNC, we were greeted by additional PGR members with flags staked and additional family and friends. CPL Martin was eulogized by one of his closest friends with heartfelt words. The USA Honor Guard presented Military Honors followed by PGR presentations of the invocation and plaque. We concluded the service with a Final Salute to our hero.
Thank you to the Martin family for asking us to join in this ceremony. Thank you to all the Patriots that took of their time to join in the mission to honor CPL Martin. The outpouring of thanks from all of the family during this mission shows that you gave the family much needed relief during this trying time. Thank you most of all to CPL Max Lee Martin for your valorous and selfless service to our great country. May you rest in peace, brother.
Sincerely,
Dan “Big D” Koehling
