The family of SPC Matthew Van Auken has requested the Patriot Guard to stand a Flag Line to honor his service to the country. SPC Van Auken entered the United States Army on May 19, 2004, where he served 3 years, 3 months and 21 days. During this service, he spent 1 year, 3 months and 19 days in Afghanistan. He served with RECON C CO 3/71st Calvary RSTA 10th Mountain Division as an Infantryman, which took him on multiple combat missions.

There are no good words to explain the grief for this loss for his family, as he leaves behind a wife, and 2 children (7 yr old and a 2 yr old). The best that can be done right now is to show the full support of the PGR through the Red, White, and Blue of your Flags in honor of SPC Van Auken.
With 2 Missions for St Cloud this weekend I can only ask that you arrive when you can, stay as long as you can, and leave when you must. If you can help for both Missions that would be awesome and will go a long way in starting the healing needed by the families of both Veterans.
Please remember your 3ft X 5ft Flag and pole and bring everything you need to be self sufficient for the day.
