He started his career with the Ashland Police Department in Ohio. When the family moved to Arizona he went to work as a deputy for the Pinal County Sheriff. He then moved to Clifton\, AZ and started with the Greenlee County Sheriff and then spent many years with the Clifton Police Department where he eventually became Police Chief. He helped implement the K-9 and Swat units in Clifton.
