San Antonio, Texas – 10-25-19
ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of MSG Marvin E. Tomlinson, US Army POW/MIA, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside Memorial Service of their loved one. MSG Tomlinson was born on 19 March 1914 in Normangee, Texas and enlisted in the Army in January 1933 into the Infantry’s Cavalry. He would later be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1943 through the Officer Candidate School program. As a career Army member, Sergeant Tomlinson served in European Theater during World War II reaching the rank of Captain. He was deactivated from the Army after WWII. He reenlisted as a Sergeant to serve in the Pacific Theater during the Korean War a few months later. During Sergeant Tomlinson’s last assignment, he volunteered for combat duty and was sent to Korea where he was part of the Indianhead Division, which still guards the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. He didn’t have to go as he would be retirement eligible in 1953, however he wanted to continue to serve his country. On 14 February 1951 he was listed as Missing in Action from Chuam-ni, South Korea while engaged in action and in 1953 listed as a Prisoner of War.
