ABOUT THE MISSION:
Seventy-six year old Martin Lloyd “Sonny” Garcia passed from this earth suddenly on 17 Jul 19. During his time on earth he served his country and community honorably by serving in the US Army for twenty years followed by a career as a Police Officer. Martin retired from the US Army after twenty years of service on 31 May 84 as a SSG (E6). During his service career he served for five plus years in Vietnam. He had a duel career in the Army as both a Motor Transport Operator and then in Military Police. His awards and decorations include: .45 Caliber Pistol Expert Qualification Badge, .38 Caliber Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Brass, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, and M-16 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. The family of SSG Garcia has requested PGR support to escort the family from the funeral home to Fort Stanton State Veterans’ Cemetery and stand a flag line during his service. The US Army has been requested to provide Military Honors.

It is possible that the Socorro County Sheriff’s Department will be escorting us to the County Line.
When we approach Fort Stanton we will pull over at the US-380 and SR-220 intersection to place flags on our vehicles.
Once we arrive at the cemetery the PGR will proceed to the interment shelter to set up a flag line.
The family will stop at the administration building to receive instructions from the cemetery administration folks.
