Event Navigation

The family of HM2 Mark Vargas has invited the Patriot Guard to honor their Hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Mark proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He enlisted in 2006 and served in combat attached to Marine squadrons. His goal when entering the U.S. Navy was to serve as a Corpsman and save lives. He was honorably discharged at the rank of HM2.

He began this inspiration of wanting to save lives at an early age, when 16 yrs old, he and a coworker were delivering newspapers in his hometown of Ridgecrest when they saw a child was injured in an accident, they quickly transported the 3 yr old to the hospital where his life was saved.

Mark grew up in Ridgecrest from the age of 1 yrs old, and passed away on August 5, 2016 just a few days short of his 31st birthday which would have been August 14.

HM2 Vargas is survived by his parents, extended family and numerous friends.

The weather is predicted to be extremely hot, so stay hydrated.
