ABOUT THE MISSION:
Highly decorated Army Vietnam veteran Lieutenant Colonel Mark Ponzillo, Jr., will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia with full military honors. His family has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present and to stand for their hero. They have also requested that we escort him and his family from the Comfort Inn in Canton to Georgia National Cemetery. It will be a privilege and honor to do so. LTC Ponzillo retired after serving over twenty years active duty. He was Airborne and Special Forces and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. Among many decorations, LTC Ponzillo was awarded two Legion of Merit Medal and two Purple Hearts.

Special Instructions:
Comfort Inn is directly behind Cracker Barrel on Riverstone Pkwy. Stage in the southern most parking lot on the east side if spaces available. After a short safety briefing we will line up for the escort to Georgia National Cemetery. KSU at 2:10 pm.

Special Instructions:
Stage at the POW/MIA flag pole area and await the arrival of the escort. Bikes on right sidewalk. Cages on right curb either prior to flag pole area or just beyond. We will move to the assigned shelter when available and at the appropriate time. Service is scheduled for 3 pm.

To the family and friends of Mark Ponzillo my most sincere condolences. His service and sacrifice to this great nation during the Vietnam War will never be forgotten. Thank you for asking the Patriot Guard to stand for this true American hero.

It was my honor to participate in this mission for my long term friend Mark Ponzillo. I want to thank Byron Hall and the brothers and sisters of the GA PGR for welcoming me in for the day and making me special part of the escort and ceremony. The do an outstanding job honoring our service members.
