ABOUT THE MISSION

It is my sad duty in inform you of the loss of another Veteran of the Greatest Generation.

The family of Marilyn Levine Roberts, better known as “Maggie” has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor her service and life. I have informed the family that it will be an Honor and Privilege to do so.

Marilyn “Maggie” Roberts was born in Brooklyn New York. At the age of eighteen she left Brooklyn for Manhattan to go to trade school to be a dressmaker and seamstress. While in New York she dated movie stars and dignitaries. When WW II broke out she joined the U.S. Navy. She acted as liaison to the Brig Marshall in Washington D.C. She said that most of the boys in the brig were just misunderstood.

She met the love of her life Ken and married him three weeks later. They were married over 50 years. While married they traveled extensively living in multiple cities. They had three children. A son was born in Washington, a second son was born in Ohio and a daughter was born in Milwaukee. They eventually settled in Marietta. She was a substitute schoolteacher at Wheeler HS and continued her dressmaking skills making fabulous clothes, wedding gowns alterations and making dancing costumes for local strippers and dress shirts for the “Outlaws” motorcycle club. She was set in her ways and would never compromise her dignity.

Her friends and family will miss her sense of humor and her great sense of style. Marilyn Roberts believed that some things in life should never be compromised and that you should always fight for what is right. Love, honor and respect never go out of style.

Marilyn was the sole survivor of 9 siblings, seven sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ken. She is survived by her three children as well as two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Military Honors will be rendered at the interment site.

This will be a flag line only mission at the Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Ave, NE, Friday, August 8th 2017.
