The family of Major Alan Bakas has requested the presence of The Patriot Guard Riders for Services and Military honors
Major Alan Bakas served in the Army Air corp in 1946, where he served as a communication specialist at Ramey AFB, PR. He later “re-upped” and transferred to the Air Force and went through OCS. After attending Officer Candidate School, OCS class of 54B, he successfully completed pilot/Bombardier training and spent the next 20 years as an AF pilot, flying numerous aircraft including B-47, U-6A, C-123. Alan served as a staff communication officer during his tour in Vietnam. His last assignment was as consultant to the Joint Military Commission in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. He achieved the rank of Major earning several medals and honors. Alan retired after 23 years and was honorably discharged . Alan was the founding Commander of the Daisy Mountain VFW Post 10231 and active with the Daisy Mountain American Legion Post 128.

Loretta, a true military mom, [/FONT]supported he husband during his Air Force career being ‘The Officer’s Wife’ while raising the ever growing family and dealing with multiple cross country moves. The children said that she always made our military or civilian quarters loving homes and provided her six children with safe and happy childhoods. Alan and Loretta were married for 64 years. She just passed recently.

Briefing: 0900 hours, The family will be at the briefing. The daughters twin sons who are Army Veterans would love to stand tall with us in the flag line. We will escort the family and urns to the shelter from the visitors center where we will stand the flag line.
