DeWitt\, 95. LTC DeWitt served with the 41st “Sunset” Division. While in New Guinea\, DeWitt used every weapon he could get his hands on\, including his helmet\, to go after the enemy. He went above and beyond and showed “extraordinary heroism and coolness under fire” earning a nomination from commanders for a Medal of Honor. For unknown reasons he was awarded a Distinguished Service Cross – the Army’s second highest honor. He was recalled to service for the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart. He returned to active duty a third time and did intelligence work in Europe\, retiring in 1965. New MOH nomination paperwork has been submitted and is awaiting a determination. Please join us as we help support his family\, pay our respects\, and honor his many years of service to our nation. \nMission Date: Thursday\, 30/Jun/16 \nRide Captain:Smokie Parrack rwpjr1972@gmail.com \nStaging Location: Saint James Catholic Church – 1145 SE 1st St\, McMinnville\, OR \nStaging Time: 9:45 am\nBriefing: 10:10 am \nFlag line Set: 10:20 am \nService Begins: 11:00 am \nOnce the service begins\, the PGR flag line will break down and proceed to the cemetery for the Military Honor portion. \nCemetery Location: Evergreen Memorial Park – 7961 99 W McMinnville\, Oregon
