The family of Jack Capers has requested the presence of the Arizona Patriot Guard Riders for services and military honors. It will be our honor to participate.
Jack Capers, a member of the greatest generation and true American hero, served his country in 3 wars. He joined the Army shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. He became an aviator in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Jack was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1951. He was assigned to various special operations groups that flew missions over Korea during the Korean War. In 1966 Jack was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and served in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 with almost 30 years of service.
While serving his country during 3 wars Jack was awarded the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Reserve Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Medal, Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and 3 Purple Hearts.
