19 September 2016
The family of LTC (Ret) George Louis Rivest has requested the PGR and riding community for final committal services on 19 September 2016 at the Fort Huachuca Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
George was a child of the Great Depression and was swept up in the powerful events of WWII that shaped the rest of his life. He entered the US Army Air Corp as a glider pilot and was quickly transferred to being a fighter pilot in P-38’s and P-51’s. He flew a total of 31 combat missions over Germany from his base in Foggia, Italy. After the war, George tried other occupations but because of his love for flying he rejoined the Air National Guard and was attached to the US Air Force as a flight leader, flying F-100’s and F-102’s.
