STAGING INFORMATION AND GENERIC RIDE INFORMATION

The Lead Ride Captain for this mission is Paul McNaughton. I am working with Paul setting the staging information and ride itineraries. Weather for tomorrow is probably the best weather we have had so far this week. A slight chance of showers, but otherwise dry.
Ride safely everyone and we’ll see you in the morning.

Confirmed Mission for Mrs. Lillian Sandra Mittelsdorf, WWII Veteran, USMC, Forked River, NJ to Arneytown, NJ 19JUN09

Our assistance has been requested to honor the service and the life of Mrs. Lillian Sandra Mittelsdorf of Forked River, NJ. The original contact was made by Rolling Thunder 2 who is very familiar with Mrs. Mittelsdorf and her husband, Joseph. I have also spoken to one of the Mittelsdorf’s daughters, Carol. Mrs. Mittelsdorf’s claim to fame is that she was one of the first women allowed into the Marine Corps during WWII, and was the first women sent overseas during the War by the Marines. The Mittelsdorfs are also known as one of the oldest surviving Marine Corps couples. Mrs. Mittelsdorf also accomplished many things after her discharge, including raising a wonderful family and being very active in many civic and Veteran organizations. I have agreed to help honor the life and service of this amazing American Patriot.

This mission will consist of a flag line at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 US Highway 9, Forked River, NJ at 1100 on Friday, 19JUN09. We will then escort the family and friends to the Brigadeer General William C. Doyle Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ for final interment. Staging information and ride itineraries will follow as more information becomes available.
