ABOUT THE MISSION:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, our presence has been requested to stand and honor another of our Nation’s Heroes. Chief Petty Officer Lief Pederson retired from the United States Navy in 1962. He was on the carrier Wasp CV-7 when it was torpedoed in 1942. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals, and various other medals and awards. After retirement, CPO Pederson was an avid ham radio operator, communicating with fellow ham radio enthusiasts all over the world.
