Lake Havasu City, Arizona – 01-04-20

Liam left for Navy Basic on Mother’s Day 2014 (May 13). He attended Navy basic and pre-BUDS at Naval Station Great Lakes in Chicago and Electronic Technician training, at Great Lakes, and graduated top of his class. He was assigned to Coastal Riverine Command in Norfolk, receiving training in Navigation, and many other aspects of the Mark VI Boat, the Navy’s newest coastal Riverine ship. From there he was transferred to Panama for 6 weeks to aid in securing the passage of a retiring Missile Boat thru the Panama canal; He was transferred to Guam for sea trials of the new Mark VI Boat; he returned to Norfolk for further training on the Mark VI. His boat company was deployed to Bahrain, in the Middle East for an 8 month deployment, during which he was promoted to E-5. After successful completion of this mission he volunteered for Navy EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) training. This training began in Jan 2019. On Dec 20th of this year he graduated as a certified Navy EOD Diver. Beginning in Jan of 2020 he will attend Navy Underwater Demolition school with expected graduation Apr 2020 as a fully certified EOD Tech. This is one of the toughest jobs in the Navy to become certified to. He will then head to Ft Benning for Jump School and finally back to Coronado, CA for Small Unit Tactics Certification.
