Bohrer was awarded the National Defense Medal\, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 5 Stars\, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device\, Combat Action Ribbon\, Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart. He worked as an officer for the Kansas City\, Kansas Police Department for 26 years\, retiring as a Lieutenant.
