ABOUT THE MISSION:
The Patriot Guard Riders of New Mexico have been invited to honor our fallen brother, Leopoldo Griego. Leo was born and raised in his beloved North Valley of Albuquerque and lived the majority of his life there. At the age of 16 he joined the CC Camp (a great depression program). When WWII broke out Leo joined the Marines. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division – A1-5, trained as a sharpshooter and then was deployed to the Pacific Theater. He was wounded in the battle for the Island of Peleliu. Leo served his country honorably and proudly.Throughout his life, Leo continued to serve his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. With his very dear friend Danny Sandoval, they volunteered at the St. Felix’s Pantry doing what Leo called “the bread run”.
