SUMMARY:Leonard Chinn

There were a series of caves from which enemy soldiers were mounting ambushes.  Chinn mounted a bulldozer\, drove it at them under fire\, and collapsed the cave entrances.  Five years later\, on December 1\, 1950\, while serving in the Korean War\, he was captured while fighting to allow the men under his command to escape.  Enemy soldiers mounted an attack\, and it was clear their position would be overrun.  Chinn told his men to bring him all their guns. He laid down covering fire while his men retreated down the mountain.  He died in a prisoner of war camp.  He was awarded the Prisoner of War Medal\, Korean Service Medal\, United Nations Service Medal\, National Defense Service Medal\, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.\n\nThe family of Korean War KIA\, Leonard Kelsey Chinn\, 34\, United States Army\, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders provide an escort from Eppley Airfield to Columbus\, Nebraska\, on Saturday\, September 15\, 2018 and a funeral flag line\, cemetery escort and a graveside flag line on Wednesday\, September 19.\n\n\nPRIMARY STAGING DETAILS: 09-15-18 \nStaging Time: 10:45 a.m. \nEppley Field\nAbbott Drive at Fort Street (North of the Terminal)\nOmaha\, Nebraska\n\n\nRide Captain: \nMichael Hendrick\nmhendrickomaha@yahoo.com\n402-660-4353\n\n\nSpecial Instructions: \nRiders’ meeting:  11:05 AM\nClutches out:  11:50 AM to McKown Funeral Home\, 2922 13th St\, Columbus NE 68691\nETA Columbus:  : 2:30pm\n\n\nAssisting:  Dal Vogel\, dxvz@yahoo.com\, 402-206-9554\n\nFlag captain needed\, please contact a Ride Captain if you can help.\n\n\n\nFlags & Water:\nFlags will not be provided\nIf you have large bike flags\, please bring them.\nWater WILL NOT be provided\, please bring your own.\n\nSTAGING #2 DETAILS: 09-19-18 \nStaging Time: 12:30 p.m. \nSilver Creek Methodist Church\n509 4th Street\,\nSilver Creek\, Nebraska 68663\n\n\nRide Captain: \nMichael Hendrick\nmhendrickomaha@yahoo.com\n402-660-4353\n\n\nSpecial Instructions: \nRiders’ meeting:  1:00 PM\nFlag line:  1:15 PM\nFuneral service:  2:00 PM\n\nFollowing the funeral service the PGR will provide an escort to the Silver Creek Cemetery in Silver Creek\, Nebraska and provide a flag line during the graveside service.\n\nFlag captain needed\, please contact the ride captain if you can help.\n\n\nFlags & Water:\nFlags will be provided\nIf you have large bike flags\, please bring them.\nWater WILL NOT be provided\, please bring your own.\n\n\n\nSubmitted By: Scott Knudsen \nPosition: Nebraska State Captain \n\nNote: You do not have to own/ride a motorcycle or be a veteran to join\, and membership is Free.
