Leon V. Houser, Veteran
Prattville, Alabama – 05-02-20



Leon Vidmon Houser was born July 27, 1933 in Prattville, Alabama.  He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Sinai Baptist church where he served as an Usher.  Mr. Houser attended Mount Sinai Junior High and graduated from Autauga County Training School. He joined the Army in 1953 where he earned Good Conduct & National Defense Service Medals and was honorably discharged in 1955.  Leon Houser attended Alabama State University where he received a Bachelor ‘s Degree and also attended Roosevelt University in Chicago. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He moved to Chicago in 1959 where he held jobs with the Chicago Board of Education and the US Post Office and then went into his own business operating a Standard Service Station and Auto Repair Shop. He loved working on cars and was a respected, successful mechanic. Mr. Houser went on to open three other repair shops with his best buddy and cousin Daniel Webster Pugh who preceded him in death. He worked as a mechanic serving the community until he retired.

The family of Leon V. Houser has requested the Patriot Guard to honor their hero by providing escort to his final resting place and we will be honored to do so.
