Leo served in the US Navy from 9 June 1950 to 8 June 1956. He was Honorably Discharged at the Rate of Boatswain’s Mate First Class (E6. During his time in the Service\, he earned the Korean Service Medal\, the United Nations Medal\, the National Defense Service Medal\, A Navy Unit Commendation Medal\, and a Presidential Unit Citation Medal.
