The family of LCDR Barton Fordham has requested the presence of the South Carolina Patriot Guard Riders, to stand in honor of their loved one’s service to his country.

Barton Fordham passed away June 17th 2016, The father of our own Charlotte Fordham, ​​as a young man, Barton was offered two full ride scholarships, one to Auburn University and the other to Georgia Tech for playing football. As you can see Barton was a great football player. Instead of the scholarships Barton decided to go to the Naval Academy instead. Graduating with the class of 1955 as a new Ensign, Barton was sent to the fleet where he was flying missions for Anti​-​Submarine Warfare​. ​Bart also flew combat missions in Vietnam before retiring from the USN as a LCDR. After retirement​,​ Barton decided to attend the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a law degree. Barton then practiced law in Columbia for the next thirty years before retiring.
