Lawrence W. Kyber, Veteran
USN
Canton, Georgia – 22 Sep 2017

ABOUT THE MISSION:

It is with a sad heart that I report the loss of a Korean War Era hero Lawrence (Larry) Walter Kyber, NAVY, who honorably served from 1951 to 1955. Mr. Kyber was a Second Class Petty Officer (CT2). His commendations include the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Good Conduct Medal.

Petty Officer Kyber, 88, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Dallas, Georgia. Born September 4, 1929, he served 4 years in the Navy, during which time he met his first wife, and they married in Maryland in 1954. In 1955, he began a long career as an Electrical Engineer; first for Hughes Aircraft, and eventually retiring from Litton Industries after 40 years as a member of the Technical Staff. His legacy is 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Larry loved his life experiences. He especially loved learning, traveling, and sharing his stories with family and friends (which became better each time he told them). He was an adept handyman who could build or fix just about anything. Yet, his greatest joy came from being a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend to many.
