Kenneth Wayne Luther

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Kenneth Wayne Luther, 76, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to support the memorial service of this veteran. Kenneth Wayne Luther, was not only a veteran but also a retired SC Highway Patrol officer. Kenneth Wayne Luther entered in the SC Army National Guard (ARNG) and retired with the rank of Sergeant Major (SGM). While in the ARNG he went into the medical field and later worked for Charleston County EMT. After that SGM Luther went full-time in the ARNG as NCOIC of recruiting in the Charleston area. After retiring from the SC ARNG, he was a US Marshal for 10 yrs. SGM Luther was a member of several law enforcement organizations as well as military organizations. SGM Luther enjoyed wild life , boating, riding a motorcycle and specially being an Omar Shriner and received an awarded for raising an significant sum of donations for the burned and crippled children.

Special Instructions:

Following the briefing, a flag-line will be established, as the family and friends proceed into the church for the memorial service.
Service: 1:00 PM, when the service starts, the PGR will stand down and get ready to render honors as they place SGM Luther in the hearse. PGR will then return to their bikes to prepare for an escort to the cemetery with LEO to lead. All Covid-19 guidelines will be observed. Each attendee must provide their own mask/face covering.

Special Instructions:

Staging time is estimated based on service length and travel time. As the escort arrives at the cemetery, there will already be a flags there to set up another flag-line for the graveside service. Honors will be rendered for the military ceremony. Once the service is over, the PGR will return to their bikes and then return to their homes.
NOTE: Special Instructions for PGR missions during the Covid-19 virus: we will abide by all rules and regulations set by the CDC and the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Each attendee is responsible to bring a personnel face-covering. It does not have to be an actual mask, any sort of covering will be sufficient. In keeping with the requirements, PGR members will maintain at least a six-foot distance between each other during the briefing and flag-line. We are also instructed to be no closer than forty feet from the family funeral tent.
