Honor Mission
June Rollings, Veteran
USMC – WWII
Lexington, Kentucky – 06-07, 06-08-21

ABOUT THE MISSION:

On June 1, 2021, June Rollings, a proud WWII Marine Corps Veteran, passed away peacefully from this earth into God’s loving arms. Mrs. Rollings was an icon of the ‘60s in Lexington, hosting one of the most popular talk shows in Lexington history. Her show, Town Talk, was indeed the one to tune into daily for news and human-interest stories throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Mrs. Rollings appeared on television for 25 years, 12 at WKYT – Channel 27, and the remainder at Gospel Graphics, a religious station. She was one of the best interviewers in the business, rivaling the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters. She interviewed notable celebrities such as Lucille Ball, Danny Thomas, Bob Hope, Ronald Reagan, Adolph Rupp, Billy Graham and numerous dignitaries, governors and mayors. She was also the hostess for many successful telethons and festivals and received many awards for her tireless work. After her years at WKYT, she worked at Gospel Graphics which sent her to Africa where she interviewed different tribes during the unrest of Apartheid and came back with the truth right from the Tribal leaders who lived there. She was embraced wherever she went because she cared and respected what people wanted to make known and what they wanted to remain personal. Who do you know who has built a chapel within a prison? June Rollings did. She saw Big Brothers and wondered why there wasn’t a Big Sisters too. And Big Sisters was born. The list of her accomplishments goes on and on and we pray her legacy of “Love One Another with the love of Jesus Christ who loves us all just as we are”, lives on. It will be the Patriot Guard Riders Honor to stand for her.
