ABOUT THE MISSION:
PFC Julie Anne Shanahan, a US Army Veteran, was the first woman assigned to the 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard”. Julie proudly served as the Regimental Photojournalist. She also worked at the Pentagon, providing photographs for the “Pentagram News” a military newspaper. She received several military honors, among them the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. She was honorably discharged in 1996 after contracting cancer. PFC Shanahan will be interred on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. PGR has been invited to attend the service and we will be there to stand tall, silent and proud in honor of this Army Veteran and Photojournalist, her family friends and comrades at arms.
