He was drafted into the US Army in April 18\, 1968 at the age of 20. He served in Vietnam from October 1968 to September 1969. He was wounded and transferred to Letterman Hospital in San Francisco\, CA\, then was Honorably discharged in March 20\, 1977. He received the Purple Heart.
