ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of SFC Joseph Russell Best, United States Army, has graciously invited the Patriot Guard to escort him to Barrancas National Cemetery and stand a silent flag line during Military Honors. SFC Best, 84, honorably served 23 years in the United States Army and retired on 28 Feb 1973. He was both a Korea and Vietnam veteran. SFC Best’s numerous awards and decorations include the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/1OLC, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Bronze Star w/1OLC, and the Army Commendation Medal. The Patriot Guard will escort SFC Best from Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, to Barrancas National Cemetery with LEO escort.

Special Instructions:

Naval Air Station requires long sleeve shirt or jacket, long trousers, long fingered gloves, DOT approved helmet, footwear covering the ankles, and proper eye protection be worn while riding on base.
09:00 – Briefing for all Riders.
09:15 – KSU to Trahan’s Funeral Home.
09:30 – KSU to Barrancas National Cemetery.
10:30 – Honors at Barrancas National Cemetery Site “B”.

Flags will be provided
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will be provided.
