ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Colonel Joseph R. Nevers has requested that we stand for their loved one as he once stood for us. Col. Nevers served 35 years in the USAF. He was a renowned fighter pilot having accumulated more than 7,700 flying hours in such aircraft as the F-86, F-100 and the F-104. He flew F- 104 combat missions in Vietnam and returned to that combat theater later on as Deputy Base Commander of a Special Operation Wing based in Thailand. Other key assignments included Director of F-104 operations at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona; Deputy Base Commander at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida and Commander of the 354th Combat Support Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He served more than seven years becoming the Base’s longest serving commander. Chief among his service awards are the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses and five Air Medals.

Following the briefing we will stand a flag line
Service at 12:00 PM.
At the end of the service we will Mount up to escort the family to Nevers Street at Market Common where the family will have a celebration of life.
After the escort we will depart the area.
