It is with a heavy heart that I must report America has lost another True American hero from the greatest generation
The family of Mr. Stonecipher has asked us to stand for their departed hero. It is our honor and privilege to do so. Joseph Oscar (Pat) Stonecipher, age 96, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away at home on May 14, 2016. He was born on April 29, 1920, in Oakdale, TN.
Mr. Stonecipher was a radio operator in the Army Signal Corps during WWII when his team was captured by the Germans and he spent the last few months of the war as a POW. After the war, he moved from Tennessee to Georgia where he graduated from Georgia Tech as an electrical engineer. He then retired from Western Union after 28 years and Georgia Department of Transportation after 10 years. Mr. Stonecipher was a Grand Master Mason, Shriner, a long-time Ham operator, a pilot, golfer, gardener, and a wonderful storyteller. Pat is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty Cook Stonecipher; 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 5 Great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
We will stand a Flag Line for Mr. Stonecipher’s Interment at GNC at 1130 on Friday May 20th
